Loud music, food, frisbee, and fun. What more could you ask for? Demonfest 2006 was a success, from the acoustic performances of the lovely Theresa Dollman and the very talented Ashley Crawford, to the chill sounds of Hollywood Blues, and of course the ear bleeding, kick ass metal from In Every Nightmare. It was the first show for the hardcore metal band from Hammond, LA, and I must say, they stole the show. You know your playing a good metal show when the cops show up. There was even a special acoustic performance by local experimental artists THIS.
Demonfest began around 3:00 in the afternoon and lasted until about 9:30. During that time, people came and went, listening to the music, playing hacky sack, throwing frisbee, eating meatloaf burgers and burnt chicken, and some even decided to take a dip in Cane River. Our chef Connor “Gin” Johnson did an excellent job on the grill. Burgers went for $2 with proceeds going straight to charity. After all, what’s rock’n roll without something for the kiddies?
The riverfront was rocking harder than it ever has with the expert sound engineers hired by KNWD. Elliot Westphal coordinated Demonfest with the help of Brad Hartley, Emily Perkins, and Tiffany Williams. They provided Natchitoches with one great Saturday afternoon. I even saw people who were not associated with the station helping with cooking and picking up trash. Thanks to everyone who came out and participated in Demonfest 2006, and be ready to rock again next year!
